Let's be honest who doesn't enjoy the comfort of a blanket? Here at Aidblanket.org we are dedicated to providing warmth and comfort to those in need. Our primary mission is to collect unwanted or unused blankets, whether homemade or purchased, and distribute them to homegrown charities like Crisis, Women’s Aid , Families Centres, Baby Care Units and even Animal Shelters!
Each blanket holds the potential to bring solace to someone facing hardship. It’s not just about providing a physical item; it’s about offering a sense of security and care during difficult times. We believe that everyone deserves warmth and support, and through this initiative we hope to bridge the gap for those who are struggling.
Our secondary mission is to collect wool and yarn donations plus any knitting needles or crochet hooks . With these kind donations the project aims to mobilise community support by bringing back the 'knit (or crochet) a 25cm x 25cm granny square' campaign from times gone by. These granny squares are pieced together by volunteers to make beautiful blankets for onward donation or for possible re-sale to raise vital funds as we are totally reliant on grants. By driving engagement and encouraging groups from all demographics to join our cause, we hope to create a sustainable network of assistance that can evolve.
